NEW DELHI: West Bengal trotted to their second win of the ongoing 37th Sub-Junior National Football Championship as they defeated Haryana 6-1 in a Group B fixture at the Ambedkar Stadium in the Capital on April 15, 2016.

Coming on the back of a 3-0 win over Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal took the lead with literally the first attack of the match in the 1st minute itself as Kartick Golder slotted his opportunity home after a tacky one touch play around Haryana’s 18 yard box saw him through onto goal.

Although Haryana equalized in the 34th minute, courtesy of an exquisite Sahil Kadian free-kick from more than 30 yards out, the West Bengal attacking juggernaut was proving too much to deal with for the Haryana defence line. And three minutes later, Bijoy Mandal put West Bengal back in the lead to make the scoreline read 2-1.

After the half-time scoreline read 2-1, West Bengal tried to extend their lead and initiated constant attacks. In the 53rd minute, when such attack resulted in a penalty kick which was slotted comfortably in the right top corner by Shayambu Deb as he doubled West Bengal’s lead.

Seven minutes later, Kartick Golder latched onto an exquisite through ball and blasted it into the back of the net to make the scoreline read 4-1.

In the 67th minute, Golder could have completed his hattrick after he sidestepped two Haryana defenders and released a curling shot onto goal with his left foot. The shot however, rattled the woodwork and went out as Haryana survived another scare.

Three minutes later, Pintu Murmu tapped the ball in after Golder’s rasping shot earned an uncanny save from the Haryana custodian to make the scoreline read 5-1. In the dying embers of the match, Pintu Murmu scored another to make the scoreline read 6-1.

West Bengal tried to inflict more misery on their opponents but were left reeling as opportunities were not finished. However at the end of time the full-time scoreline read 6-1 in West Bengal’s favour.
