NEW DELHI: The AIFF U-17 Academy steamrolled Sporting Clube de Goa U-18 8-0 in the GFA League on Monday (May 25, 2015) at the Benaulim Ground, Goa.

Yadav Rahul scored a quadruple while Anirudh Thapa’s brace and a solitary goal by Jerry and Bedeshwor Singh, completed a 8-0 thrashing of the opposing Team.

The U-17 boy fused attacking fluidity with defensive solidity to scratch out the opposition.  Yadav Rahul opened the floodgates for the U-17 Academy boys in the 22nd minute when he capitalized on a rebound and slotted the ball home.

After constant waves of attacks the U-17 Academy boys garnered dividends again, as two quick-fire Yadav Rahul goals within three minutes sealed the fate of the opposing Team. First, Yadav Rahul eloquently controlled a fine through ball by Anirudh Thapa and blasted it past a hapless goalkeeper from 25 yards in the 30th minute. And three minutes later, Yadav latched onto a cross and volleyed it from 18 yards to give the Academy boys an unassailable lead.

Jerry added another goal in the 40th minute to garner a hefty lead for the U-17 Academy boys, as the halftime scoreline reflected 4-0.

The U-17 Academy boys seldom enjoyed their hefty goal lead and aimed to add even more to their tally from the start of the second half.

Constant fluid attacking with penetration was bound to foster a clear goal scoring opportunity. And that it did in the 59th minute, when Anirudh Thapa’s effort, following a Bedeshwor through pass, bewitched the opposing goalkeeper and ended in the back of the net.

Bedeshwor Singh’s sterling freekick from 20 yards more than asserted the dominance of the U-17 boys as it elongated the scoreline to 6-0.

Two tap-ins, in the 78th and 80th minute, by Yadav Rahul and Anirudh Thapa respectively, fostered a colossal win for the AIFF U-17 Academy boys as the scoreline reflected 8-0 at the end of time.
