All India Football Federation’s Navi Mumbai Regional Academy defeated Chandigarh Football Academy 2-0 to lift the 11th Administrator’s Challenge Cup All India Football Tournament organised by Chandigarh Sports Department. Besides the glittering Trophy, the AIFF Academy boys also bagged a cash prize of Rs. 2 lakh.

Hayden Fernandes and Delbert Fernandes scored one in each half to settle the score for the Champions.

In the 4th minute of play, AIFF Academy’s Milan Basumatary followed a superb Moinuddin Khan cross and unleashed a powerful shot which rebounded off the post. Thereafter, in the 7th minute, Bidyananda Singh’s powerful drive was saved by a diving CFA custodian Arshdeep.

The Chandigarh Academy boys tried to regroup and initiated a couple of moves but the AIFF Academy defence was equal to the task.

The first goal came in the 45th minute when Suman Sarkar tried to head in another of Khan’s cross down the right. But even as Arshdeep managed to keep it at bay, Hayden Fernandes’ powerful grounder bulged the net.

Post resumption, AIFF Regional Academy doubled the lead in the 78th minute when substitute Delbert Fernandes dribbled past the rival defence to slot it home.

Mr. VK Singh, Secretary, Finance, gave away the prizes while Mr. Sunil Bhatia, PCS Director Sports, Dr. JPS Sidhu, Joint Director Sports and Mr. KS Bharti, District Sports Officer were also present on the occasion.
