NEW DELHI: Tamil Nadu returned to winning ways in the 30th Senior Women’s National Football Championship for Rajmata Jijabai Trophy 2025-26 Final Round as they thrashed Goa 5-0 in a Group A match at the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama Ground in Narainpur, Chhattisgarh, on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.

Priyadharshini scored a hat-trick as Tamil Nadu moved to the second spot in the group with six points from three matches and stayed in the hunt for the knockout rounds. It was the end of the road for Goa.

In the other match of the day, Odisha maintained their winning momentum as they defeated Chhattisgarh 3-0. The victory helped Odisha move to the third position in Group B with six points from three games. With the defeat, Chhattisgarh were also eliminated. West Bengal are top of the table with seven points.

Tamil Nadu and Goa started on an even keel and were equal to the task before Priyadharshini turned the tables for her side by coming on as a substitute in the 32nd minute. She went to dictate the game by scoring a hat-trick while Vinothini and Sharon were also on target.

It all started in the 39th minute. Goa’s Shaundelle Gomes brought down Tamil Nadu captain Nandhini inside the box, and the referee awarded a penalty. India international Priyadharshini stepped up to convert from the spot and give Tamil Nadu the lead.

The floodgates, though, opened after the half-time for Tamil Nadu. In the 53rd minute of the match, Nandhini released Priyadharshini with a through ball, and the forward easily slotted the ball past the Goa goalkeeper.

Priyadharshini turned provider for Tamil Nadu’s third goal as she made a brilliant solo run before drawing the goalkeeper out and then laying the ball for an unmarked Vinothini, who easily tapped the ball into an open net.

Priyadharshini completed her hat-trick in the 70th minute of the match when her long-distance effort floated over the Goa goalkeeper to find the back of the net.

Tamil Nadu completed the rout in the 73rd minute when Sharon kept her cool despite a strong challenge from a Goa defender to score.

It was smooth sailing for Odisha against hosts Chhattisgarh. The first goal came in the 23rd minute from a set-piece. Malati Munda whipped in a free-kick from 20 yards and the ball was laid off for Jasoda Munda inside the box, who didn’t make a mistake to head home and put Odisha in the lead.

Odisha doubled their lead at the stroke of half-time from another set-piece. Malati Munda floated in a corner from the left and Chhattisgarh defenders struggled to clear the ball. Ipshita Rout capitalised on the lackadaisical defending to score Odisha’s second goal.

Odisha defenders held firm for the remainder of the match before India international Pyari Xaxa sealed the match with a 95th-minute header from a corner.
