BENGALURU: The All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) National Referee Assessor & Referee Instructor certification course concluded at The Sports School, Bengaluru, on Saturday, September 26, 2026.

The four-day programme, held from September 23 to 26, was led and evaluated by AFC-accredited Technical Instructors and Referee Assessors Anthony D’Costa, Sankar Komaleeswaran, Purushothaman Baskar and Maria Rebello.

A total of 50 retired referees, from across the Member Associations, including four women, took part in the course. The participants underwent evaluations across six key areas: Knowledge Test, Match Incident Analysis, Report Writing, Technical Presentation Skills, Referee Assessment Skills, and Assessment Report Writing.

By preparing qualified Referee Assessors and Referee Instructors, the certification course aims to strengthen the mechanisms through which referees are evaluated, guided and supported in their ongoing development.

The successful completion of the course provides participants with the knowledge and competencies required to contribute to referee development at the national level.
