About Futsal

Futsal is an exciting and fast-paced indoor sport that is played across the world and is recognised by FIFA and the AFC. It is a 5v5 small-sided game, played with a smaller, low bounce ball and on smooth surfaces with touchlines. It is a great sport to develop skills as it demands quick thinking and reflexes, creative dribbling and accurate passing of the ball.

Following are a few basic rules about the game:

  • It can be played both Indoors or Outdoors
  • It is played on a reduced-sized pitch and with reduced-sized goals
  • It is played with smaller teams (4 outfield players + 1 goalkeeper) and with a size 4 Futsal ball, that has less bounce
  • It is played in two 20-minute periods (excluding stoppages) and with an unlimited number of substitutions
  • It is played with no offside.

Futsal in India - The sport Futsal in India has been making some great strides in recent times. The inaugural edition of the Hero Futsal Club Championship organised by the AIFF, which took place in November 2021 has been a tremendous success and we hope to organise the event annually. The AIFF Member Associations have also been organising Futsal Club Championships in their regions, apart from Futsal referee workshops and coaching courses. With your support, we hope to make Futsal a popular sport for everyone in India.
