AIFF mourns the death of GM Pentaiah

NEW DELHI: All India Football Federation (AIFF) condoles the demise of FIFA referee and former coach GM Pentaiah.

Pentaiah, who breathed his last at the age of 89, was the assistant coach of legendary Syed Abdul Rahim during the 1960 Summer Olympics in Italy. Pentaiah was then assistant coach to Harry Wright till 1964 after which he became a FIFA referee officiating in many International matches.

Pentaiah, a product of Bolarum Sporting Club, did his advance coaching in GDR Germany in the year 1972. He was also the coach of the AP Police team which won the Durand Cup, Bombay Rovers & DCM Trophy.
