Role Overview
The Strength & Conditioning Coach will be responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring physical conditioning programs tailored to the needs of players within the elite youth team. The role focuses on developing strength, endurance, agility, mobility, and recovery strategies to enhance football performance while minimizing injury risk in a high-performance residential academy environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Performance Conditioning
- Design age-appropriate strength and conditioning programs aligned with Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) principles.
- Conduct regular fitness assessments to monitor progress and inform individualized training plans.
- Implement structured warm-up, cool-down, and injury prevention protocols.
2. Training Integration
- Collaborate closely with football coaches to integrate S&C into weekly training schedules.
- Monitor physical load, fatigue, and readiness using tools such as RPE, heart rate monitoring, and wellness tracking.
- Manage load monitoring through GPS systems and generate weekly GPS reports.
3. Injury Management & Recovery
- Support rehabilitation protocols in coordination with the physiotherapist and medical team.
- Plan and implement evidence-based recovery strategies to optimize player readiness and reduce injury risk.
4. Player Education
- Conduct educational sessions on nutrition, recovery, injury prevention, and self-care.
- Promote awareness among players regarding body mechanics, posture, and healthy athletic habits.
5. Data Monitoring & Reporting
- Maintain accurate fitness and performance records for all players.
- Collect and track baseline data, including physical maturation markers.
- Share regular performance reports with the academy and AIFF’s TDS core team.
- Use software and data tools to monitor trends and evaluate KPIs.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in Sports Science, Physical Education, or a related field.
- Certified Strength & Conditioning Coach (CSCS, ASCA, NASM, or equivalent).
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience working with youth athletes in a structured sports program.
- Strong understanding of LTAD principles, youth physiology, and safe training practices.
- Proficiency in MS Office and data tracking tools.
Preferred:
- Experience working in a youth academy or team sport environment
