NEW DELHI: The Indian senior women's team will play two friendlies against IR Iran and Nepal in Shillong during the October FIFA Women's International Match Window.
India, ranked 63rd in the world, will face 70th-ranked Islamic Republic of Iran on October 21 before taking on Nepal, ranked 89th, on October 27. IR Iran and Nepal will also clash on October 24. All matches will be played at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong, and will kick off at 18:00 IST.
The Tri-Nation Women's International Friendlies are part of India's preparations for the AFC Women's Asian Cup Australia 2026. The Blue Tigresses will regroup for the first FIFA window since sealing their historic qualification for the Women's Asian Cup in July, when they beat Thailand in Chiang Mai. IR Iran have also qualified for the 12-team Women's Asian Cup, while Nepal narrowly missed out after losing to Uzbekistan on penalties.
This will be the second time Shillong will host the Indian women's team. The previous occasion was the 2016 South Asian Games, where the Blue Tigresses won the gold medal after beating Nepal 4-0 in the final. The Meghalaya capital also welcomed the Indian men's team earlier this year, playing host to the AFC Asian Cup qualifier against Bangladesh and an international friendly against Maldives.
