NAVI MUMBAI: Hattrick hero Bidyananda Singh led the surge as the AIFF Regional Academy, Navi Mumbai notched up their tenth consecutive victory following a comprehensive 9-0 result over Companeroes FC at the Fr. Agnel’s Ground, Vashi.

The visitors, who compete in the top-tier of Mumbai football, the MDFA Elite Division, succumbed to the sheer pace and swift passing moves of the academy youngsters.

Incidentally, the two sides had previously met in September 2012 with the Academy running out winners by a 5-0 margin.

Following a cautious start, the opening goal arrived in the 18th minute after Bidyananda Singh unleashed a ferocious strike from thirty yards out to make it 1-0.

The lead was doubled seven minutes later when goalscorer Bidyananda turned provider with a decisive through ball across the face of goal that was expertly converted by Rakesh Oram. It was 3-0 in the 33rd after Rakesh doubled his personal tally with a neat finish off a rebound inside the six-yard box.

The opposition defenders were having a hard time keeping Bidyananda in check as the midfielder scored twice in six minutes, recording his hattrick in the process.

At the stroke of half-time, the score-line was 5-0 in favour of the AIFF Academy.

The goals kept flowing post the breather as Prasanth K’s close range finish was soon followed by Moinuddin Khan’s header off a corner with Bidyananda providing both the assists. Second half substitute Jayson Lucas made it 8-0 after converting off Suman Sarkar’s assist before Shabaz Khan capped-off the rout with the ninth and final goal in the 80th minute off a well-placed header.
