GOA: South Africa secured a date with destiny after the ‘Amajimbos’ defeated Russia 3-1 to become the second Team to qualify for the BRICS U-17 Football Tournament final after Brazil, at the GMC Stadium in Bambolim, Goa today (October 13, 2016).

A goal apiece by Lyle Foster, Mswati Mavuso and skipper Luke Le Roux proved enough for the ‘Amajimbos’ to take home three points, after Russia had scored in the dying embers of the first through Skrobotov Ilia to cancel Foster’s 22nd minute strike.

In an end-to-end match, neither Teams dominated proceedings, but fostered many goal scoring opportunities. And with the Russian Team stuttering infront of goal, the ‘Amajimbos’ took full advantage and hammered home three goals.

After Ilia had restored parity in the match, as the Teams went into the tunnel with scores tied at 1-1, the South African Team emerged with much attacking vigour.

Mswati Musavo took advantage of a skrimmish inside the Russian box and thumped the ball home in the 54th minute to give South Africa a much deserved lead.

The icing on South Africa’s cake was the 84th minute strike by captain Luke Le Roux as his rasping shot from 25 yards out left the Russian custodian bewildered and ended in the back of the net.
