Odisha come from a goal down to defeat Madhya Pradesh 3-1

NEW DELHI: Odisha breezed into the Finals of the 37th Sub-Junior National Football Championship as they thumped Madhya Pradesh 3-1 in the semi-finals on April 21, 2016 at the Ambedkar Stadium in the Capital.

A brilliant second half performance by Odisha led them to an easy win as Odisha came back from a goal down to edge past Madhya Pradesh, after a goalless first half.

Madhya Pradesh took the lead against the run of play in the 48th minute when Lamujingba Meitei scored to make the score-line read 1-0. However Odisha came back strongly in the second half and equalized their deficit in the 68th minute through in-form striker Bekey Oram.

In the 80th minute Odisha took the lead as Dula scored to make it 2-1, before Bekey Oram added another in the dying embers of the match as the full-time scoreline read 3-1 in Odisha’s favour.

With this win, Odisha progress into the Finals of the Championship and will face the winner of the tie between West Bengal and Goa.
