Leaders AIFF Elite Academy held to a draw by Pune FC

PUNE: AIFF Elite Academy were held to a 1-1 draw by Pune FC in the third round final phase clash of the Under-19 I-League at the DSK Football Field in Loni, Pune on Friday (April 24, 2015).

Winger Dimple Bhagat gave Pune FC the lead in the 61st minute before Daniel Lalhlimpuia scored from a penalty kick in the 84th minute to pull AIFF Elite Academy, back on level terms.

Pune FC dominated proceedings in the opening minutes of the Match. The first chance of the game fell for Sannik Murmu in the 6th minute when he managed to create space outside the box, but the winger’s deflected shot went just wide.

Next, the Academy Boys started to dominate proceedings, but were unable to do justice to their fostered moves, which proved hefty for Pune FC to deal with. 

At halftime there was little to seperate between the two Teams as both cancelled each other out and the scoreline remained stagnant at 0-0.

Pune FC took the lead in the 61st minute, after Chesterpaul was fouled on the right flank near the corner flag, Dimple curled in a brilliant freekick straight into the goal.

Into the final five minutes of the game, the AIFF Academy boys were awarded a penalty after Daniel was brought down by Sannik inside the box. The striker stepped up and converted the spot kick to level scores.

Pune FC pushed up in the final minutes of the game, but their efforts were thwarted away with utmost ease by the Academy boys. 

At the end of ninety minutes, both Teams shared the spoils of battle.
