Role Overview
The Physiotherapist will be responsible for managing the health, injury prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of youth football players enrolled at the AIFF-FIFA-Telangana Talent Academy in Hyderabad. Working within a high-performance multidisciplinary team, the role is central to ensuring player well-being, recovery from injuries, and continuous physical readiness in alignment with the objectives of the FIFA Talent Development Scheme (TDS).
Key Responsibilities
- Injury Rehabilitation & Management
- Design individualised rehabilitation protocols for injured players, ensuring adherence to safe return-to-play protocols.
- Conduct initial musculoskeletal assessment and injury history documentation.
- Monitor individual player’s wellness questionnaires and basic metrics (e.g Fatigue, Injury , Sleep, Hydration)
- Monitor recovery plans regularly on player progress and update to the coaches
- Injury Prevention
- Design and implement individualised injury prevention programs based on common injury risk in footballs.
- Conduct structured Dynamic warm-up , mobility drills and cool down routines.
- Conduct regular MSK screening and assessments.
- Medical Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain detailed and confidential medical and physiotherapy records for all academy players.
- Track treatment sessions, injury logs, and communicate updates to technical and sports science staff.
- Multi-Disciplinary Collaboration
- Work closely with coaches, strength & conditioning coach, the academy’s medical team, and the Project Manager to integrate physiotherapy support into daily football operations.
- Provide physical readiness updates and advise on load management.
- Treatment Support & Recovery
- Offer on-field and off-field support during training sessions and matches.
- Administer manual therapy, taping, soft tissue therapy, and other standard treatments as needed.
- Support players in daily recovery strategies including stretching, icing, hydration routines, etc.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Master’s degree in Physiotherapy (MPT) - Sports specialization
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with athletes, preferably in a football or high-performance sports setup
- Proven expertise in injury diagnosis, rehabilitation planning, and return-to-play protocols
- Proficiency in maintaining digital medical records and reporting systems
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a residential, youth-centric environment
- Fluency in English and Hindi (Telugu will be an advantage)
Preferred:
- Experience in youth development academies or football clubs
- Exposure to GPS-based tracking or sports science data integration
- Certification in sports rehabilitation or manual therapy techniques
