KOLKATA: Atlético de Kolkata drew 1-1 with NorthEast United FC in front of more than 12,000 fans at the Rabindra Sarobar Stadium in Kolkata on Thursday. Nicolas Velez gave the Highlanders the lead in the fifth minute before Iain Hume equalised in the final minute of normal time. The draw saw ATK keep their spot in Hero Indian Super League 2016’s top 4. With 11 points from 10 games, NorthEast also moved off the bottom of the table.
Kolkata went behind five minutes into the game after an alert Velez was on hand to collect a lapse pass on the edge of the box. The Argentine forward capitalised on the defensive lapse by Henrique Sereno and rounded Debjit Majumder in ATK’s goal before calmly slotting the ball into the back of the net to make it 1-0.
