NEW DELHI: The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has mandated DigiLocker verification with the AIFF Centralised Registration System (CRS) for all Indian players. The initiative has been introduced to strengthen the player registration process and enhance the authenticity and security of player records across Indian football.

All Indian players registered in the CRS are now required to have an active DigiLocker account linked with their Aadhaar number and complete DigiLocker verification of their player profile. The registration and approval workflow in the CRS will remain unchanged, with DigiLocker functioning as an additional verification mechanism.

Clubs will continue to create player profiles in the CRS and upload the required supporting documents, following which the profiles will be reviewed and approved by the concerned Member Association and the AIFF. In addition to this existing process, every Indian player's profile must also be verified through DigiLocker. The verification may be completed before, during or after the approval process, but it must be successfully completed before the player becomes eligible to participate in AIFF-organised competitions.

The AIFF has clarified that an Indian player will be eligible to participate in AIFF-organised tournaments only after both the prescribed CRS approval process and DigiLocker verification have been completed. Player profiles that have not completed DigiLocker verification will not be considered eligible for participation, irrespective of their CRS approval status. The registration and eligibility requirements for non-Indian national players will continue to be governed by the existing AIFF regulations and procedures.

Member Associations are requested to ensure that all affiliated clubs complete the DigiLocker verification requirements for their players in a timely manner and to circulate the DigiLocker Verification User Manual among their stakeholders.

Certificates relating to participation in AIFF-recognised tournaments and competitions will also be uploaded to players' DigiLocker accounts, making it essential for players to maintain an active DigiLocker account linked with Aadhaar.

Member Associations and clubs requiring technical assistance may contact the AIFF Players' Status & Registration Department at registrations@the-aiff.com or psd@the-aiff.com. A video tutorial explaining the verification process can be accessed here.
