Bottom-of-the-table FC Goa take on seventh-placed Chennaiyin FC in Match 53 of Hero Indian Super League 2016 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda on Thursday. Both teams are out of contention for the semi-finals, so they will be playing for pride tomorrow. With 11 points from 13 games, FC Goa will be finishing last this season irrespective of whether or not they win against the Super Machans. Chennaiyin, with 15 points from 13 games, can still hope for a respectful fifth-placed finish. Marco Materazzi’s side come into this match off a painful draw against NorthEast, a match in which they took the lead thrice but still couldn’t get maximum points. Zico’s Goa, on the other hand, come off back-to-back defeats, and the last one, a 5-1 humbling to Delhi Dynamos FC, was especially painful. Having never beaten Chennaiyin at home, they will have to be wary when the defending champions come calling.
