NEW DELHI: The AIFF Elite Academy produced a superb display to pummel Sporting Clube de Goa 6-0 and continue their unbeaten run in the group stages of qualifying round of U-19 I-league in Don Bosco, Panjim.

Having a chance to be in the chase for a berth in the final round of U-19 I-League, Sporting Clube de Goa’s plan to play on the break nearly worked and the game duly opened at breakneck speed with hosts looking assertive to take the initiative.

However, the focus switched to the other end as Rakesh Oram continued his prolific form and set up Milan with an inch-perfect cutback, the AIFF No 9, swiftly tapping in into the back of the net.

In the 15th minute Daniel Lalhlimpuia, who had been given a deep role for enough time for the SCG defence to forget about him, popped up in the box to place the ball past goalkeeper after some neat interplay with Milan Basumatary.

The game was practically over as a contest on the half-hour mark when Rakesh Oram again teed up Milan Basumatary, who evaded his marker to flatten the rival keeper, this time inside his near post.

Worse was still to come for Sporting Clube De Goa, when Skipper Robinson Singh delivered a well-timed half volley just one minute into the interval.

At the half time the score read 4-0.

After the interval, the visitors continued their dominance in possession and launched series of forays. The hosts did not have an option then to sit back and soak up the pressure.

In the 70th minute, substitute Delbert Fernandes, rubbed salt to the opponent’s wounds, when the miss pass in the defence merely saw Delbert unmarked and uncatchable only to make it 5-0 for the AIFF Elite academy.

In the dying moments of the game, Daniel scored the sixth for the AIFF EA and completed his brace with a curling placement into the right top corner leaving the keeper staggered.

At the full time whistle, the AIFF Elite academy ensured a commendable position in the group with seven straight win from seven games.

The AIFF Elite academy will be hosting their last tie of the qualifying round on 10th February at Cuncolim Ground.
