NEW DELHI: The 5th AFC Medical Conference ended successfully on Wednesday (December 2) in New Delhi. The three-day Conference which was attended by 600 participants from 67 Countries was dubbed as the “Best ever,” by Dato Dr. Gurcharan Singh, Chairman of the AFC Medical Committee and the Scientific Committee.

In an exclusive chat to www.the-aiff.com Dato Guru mentioned that “among all the five AFC Medical Conferences held so far, this was the best ever in terms of participation, quality of experts and topics delivered.”

“India has done it again,” stated AIFF General Secretary Mr. Kushal Das in his closing address. “The Medical Conference which was held in the South and Central Asia for the first time has been a huge success. Not only has the Medical Conference been extremely beneficial to all of us but it has also been educative, enlightening and interactive for all of us,” he added.

“I need to thank the Asian Football Confederation and Dato’ Dr. Gurucharan Singh for entrusting India the opportunity to host this mega event.”

Dato Guru hailed the success of the conference, saying: “When we were in the midst of planning this conference we thought long and hard about what topics to include, but it is clear that we chose the correct subject matter, because it was the subject matter that related directly to you, the participants.”

The Conference, which has been given a resounding thumbs up by those participating, also featured the inaugural AFC Medical Awards with 22 professionals - including FIFA Chief Medical Officer Professor Jiri Dvorak and Singapore’s Dr. Krishnamoorthy Sittampalam-being recognised for their endeavours.

In addition to the glowing testimonies lavished on those involved in organising the elite gathering, Dato’ Dr. Gurcharan also warmly thanked the 5th AFC Medical Conference’s official partner ASPETAR for their magnificent support and backing throughout.

As a further appreciation of the support rendered to make the conference the undoubted success it was, Appreciation Awards were formally presented to UEFA, F-MARC (FIFA – Medical Assessment & Research Centre), ZOLL Medical Corporation as well as SRASCC (the Sri Ramachandra Arthroscopy and Sports Science Centre).
