Role Overview:

The Goalkeeping Coach will be responsible for the planning, delivery, and monitoring of all goalkeeper-specific training at the AIFF-FIFA-Telangana Talent Academy in Telangana. The role involves technical and tactical development, fitness coordination, and psychological preparation of goalkeepers across youth age groups, in line with AIFF’s player development philosophy and the FIFA Talent Development Scheme (TDS).

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement a structured, age-appropriate curriculum for goalkeeper development.
  • Conduct daily training sessions which includes technical, tactical and situational training sessions.
  • Customise training plans progressively based on individual strengths, improvement areas, and progression levels to improve game reading and intelligence.
  • Prepare goalkeepers physically, tactically and mentally for matches, including opposition analysis, coaching cues and game scenarios.
  • Collaborate with analysts and coaches for video review to prepare IDP and performance reviews.
  • Maintain goalkeeper-specific performance data and progress reports.
  • Provide regular technical and psychological feedback to players in a supportive, constructive manner.
  • Track physical workload and coordinate with the S&C coach and medical team to optimize readiness and reduce injury risk.
  • Assist in identifying and recruiting potential academy goalkeepers through scouting and talent identification programs.
  • Work closely with the Lead Coach, Assistant Coaches, S&C Coach, and Physiotherapist to align training methodology and schedule.
  • Engage in holistic player development, supporting education, discipline, and personal growth aspects.
  • Staff are expected to uphold gender sensitivity, inclusion, and safeguarding at all times.
  • The candidate must uphold the highest standards of player safety, welfare, and integrity, ensuring a positive and respectful training environment at all times.

Qualifications & Experience:

Essential:

  • AIFF Goalkeeping License (Level 2 or above) or equivalent international certification (UEFA, AFC, etc.).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in coaching Elite team youth goalkeepers, preferably in a structured academy or professional environment.
  • Strong understanding of youth development plans, principles and goalkeeper-specific coaching methods.
  • Video analysis and performance tracking experience.
  • Self-awareness and reflective skills as part of a professional development process.
  • In-depth knowledge of set-play trends in modern game and the ability to analyze, adapt and apply in both practical and presentation settings.
  • A passion for player development and a deep understanding of the talent pathway.

Preferred:

  • Experience in residential academy settings or with elite youth programs.
  • Playing background as a goalkeeper at a competitive level.
  • Safeguarding Children certification and Emergency First Aid in Football.
  • Language (English and Hindi), Telugu is an advantage.
  • Functional IT skills in relevant software.
