Role Overview:

The Head of Operations – Indian Super League is responsible for the execution, coordination, and oversight of all league operations related to match delivery. The role ensures consistent implementation of approved operational plans, policies, and guidelines across all venues. The position oversees Venue Operations Managers (VOMs) and ensures all matches are delivered safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with ISL, AIFF, and broadcast requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operational Oversight & Governance

  • Implement and enforce operational policies, procedures, and guidelines approved by ISL management.
  • Ensure all Venue Operations Managers comply with ISL and AIFF operational standards.
  • Act as the central point of escalation for operational issues during match delivery.

2. Venue Operations Management

  • Oversee venue readiness and match day execution across all ISL venues.
  • Ensure VOMs coordinate venue infrastructure, Field of Play (FOP), technical areas, and spectator facilities as per guidelines.
  • Monitor venue operations to ensure consistency and compliance across all locations.
  • Address and resolve operational issues escalated by VOMs in coordination with clubs and stadium authorities.

3. Match Operations & Delivery

  • Oversee execution of pre-match, match-day, and post-match operations across the league.
  • Ensure coordination between ISL, clubs, AIFF, match commissioners, and service providers.
  • Oversee match coordination meetings and ensure operational checklists are completed.
  • Ensure timely and efficient delivery of matches as per competition schedules.

4. Stakeholder Coordination

  • Act as the primary operational liaison with:
    • Clubs and club operations teams
    • AIFF officials and match commissioners
    • Stadium authorities and public agencies
    • Security agencies, broadcast partners, and vendors
  • Facilitate communication and coordination to ensure smooth execution of match operations.

5. Compliance, Safety & Risk Control

  • Ensure implementation of approved safety, security, medical, and emergency procedures.
  • Monitor compliance with statutory requirements, crowd management plans, and medical protocols.
  • Escalate risks, incidents, or non-compliance to ISL senior management as required.
  • Coordinate incident response and reporting in line with established procedures.

6. Commercial, Broadcast & Fan Operations

  • Ensure execution of commercial, sponsorship, branding, and broadcast deliverables at all venues.
  • Coordinate with clubs and partners to ensure ticketing, access control, and hospitality operations function as approved.
  • Monitor fan services and spectator experience as per defined operational standards.

7. Accreditation & Access Control

  • Oversee implementation of the league’s accreditation and access control systems.
  • Ensure consistent application of accreditation protocols across all venues.
  • Coordinate with accreditation teams, VOMs, and security agencies.

8. Logistics & Operational Resources

  • Oversee coordination of transportation and logistics for central teams, match officials, and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure operational resources are deployed as approved and required for match delivery.
  • Monitor operational readiness without authority for strategic budget decisions.

9. Reporting & Documentation

  • Review operational reports, compliance documentation, and post-match submissions from VOMs.
  • Consolidate operational updates and submit reports to ISL management.
  • Maintain accurate records of operational incidents and resolutions.

10. People & Performance Management

  • Manage, supervise, and evaluate Venue Operations Managers.
  • Ensure VOMs are trained on operational guidelines and procedures.
  • Conduct performance reviews focused on execution, compliance, and delivery.

11. Additional Responsibilities

  • Support league documentation and competition operations as required.
  • Perform any other operational duties related to match delivery as assigned by ISL management.

Key Skills & Experience

  • A Minimum of 5-8 years of Proven Experience in sports events & stadium operations
  • Thorough Understanding of Indian Football and associated operational challenges.
  • Strong execution and coordination capabilities
  • Excellent problem-solving under live event conditions
  • Ability to manage multi-venue operations simultaneously
  • Strong communication and reporting skills
