ROLE PURPOSE:

Working as part of the AIFF Referees department, the Referee Development Analyst will be responsible for the organisation, integration and presentation of data and video performance analysis, primarily from a refereeing perspective but, at times, also from a club footballing angle. Working directly with key platforms and individuals to prepare content and information for coach delivery or direct match official self-analysis as part of the AIFF’s training and development strategy. 

MAIN DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Video and database management

  • Ensuring match footage from all games (including ISL and I-League) is delivered and integrated into all AIFF platforms
  • Review current database structures. Work with technology colleagues within the AIFF to recommend upgrades etc. and aim at ensuring best practice systems and platforms
  • Managing content for transcoding, uploading and editing match footage to fit AIFF standard requirements
  • Working with outside content providers/broadcasters and delivery networks to ensure all video is scheduled and arrives within service agreement timings
  • Maintaining video databases
  • Ensuring quality assurance of data and database management
  • Managing delivery schedule and ensuring data providers adhere to time frames
  • Providing support to assessors and referee coaches regarding the use of video footage, to the benefit of the training and development of match officials

Data Analysis

  • Managing and developing of structures frameworks for developing match officials’ data in line with current analysis department procedures
  • Analysing and providing relevant and reliable data to referee coaches and match officials within set timeframes
  • Generating reports to provide oversight of developing match officials

Video Capture and Editing

  • Working directly with referee coaches and match officials to provide footage for training/coaching/media and motivational purposes
  • As required, filming including live playback, cataloguing and storage of video footage – both game footage and match official training sessions
  • Any other task as assigned by the reporting manager or AIFF including media requirements from time to time

Essential:

Qualifications/experience:

  • Previous experience as an analyst ideally within a professional sporting environment
  • Database management

Knowledge:

  • Demonstrable understanding of the modern game

Skills:

  • Advanced Excel skills with the ability to produce databases, trend analyses and reports
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative
  • Ability to focus on multiple projects, plan time effectively and meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy
  • Excellent social and communication skills to develop and maintain strong working relationships

    • Using coding products - sports code; playback etc
    • Using video editing tools – Sony Vegas, Final Cut Pro ·        
    • Filming – either from gantry or ground level
