NEW DELHI: Uttar Pradesh defeated Assam 3-0 to be crowned champions of the Junior Boys’ National Football Championship for the Dr BC Roy Trophy 2025-26 Tier 2, at the Ranger College Ground, in Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh, on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.

The two finalists, Uttar Pradesh, and Assam, have earned promotion to Tier 1, where they will play in the upcoming season.

Uttar Pradesh took the lead early on through a Bhavin Joshi strike in the 14th minute. The side from North India maintained their lead and even extended it in the final few minutes, as Joshi doubled the lead in the 83rd, before Kartik Kanwal scored the third in the fifth minute of injury time.

Manipur won Tier 1 last week, after they beat West Bengal by the same margin. Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand, who finished bottom of Group C and D, respectively, will be relegated to Tier 2 of the 2026-27 season, as they have the lowest points and goal difference.
