NARAINPUR, CHHATTISGARH: SAI sealed their spot in the quarter-final of the Swami Vivekananda U20 Men’s National Football Championship, while Mizoram put themselves in a commanding position, with their respective victories against Telangana and Madhya Pradesh, on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.

SAI 3 (Pangai Konyak 43’, 48’, Ashad M 81’)
defeated
Telangana 0

SAI earned a comprehensive 3-0 victory against Telangana at the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama Ground 2 on Tuesday, with Pangai Konyak scoring on either side of the half-time break.

Ashad M added a third in the 81st minute to complete the win. SAI, having defeated Gujarat (5-3) and Telangana (3-0), are on six points from two matches, and even a defeat against Pondicherry on May 7 will not be enough to topple them, as they have a better head-to-head record against the other two teams.

Gujarat 3 (Arihant Rajpurohit 23’ p, Akshat Khatri 45+4’, 90+5’)
defeated
Pondicherry 0

In what turned out to be an inconsequential result because of the earlier game, Gujarat defeated Pondicherry 3-0 at the RKM Ashrama Ground 2 on Tuesday.

Arihant Rajpurohit opened the scoring with a 23rd minute penalty, before Akshat Khatri scored one each in the first and second half injury time, to seal the victory.

Mizoram 10 (Mesak C Lalrinngheta 18’, Freddy Lalruatkima 21’, 63’ p, Vanlalramnghaka 25’, 74’, Lalrinfela Ralte 38’, 67’, Henry Malsawmtluanga 52’, 83’, Rothangpuia 86’)

Madhya Pradesh 0

Over in Group G, Mizoram routed a 10-man Madhya Pradesh 10-0 at the RKM Ashrama Ground 1 on Tuesday.

Freddy Lalruatkima, Vanlalramnghaka, Lalrinfela Ralte, and Henry Malsawmtluanga scored a brace each. Mesak C Lalrinngheta and Rothangpuia, meanwhile, scored one goal apiece.

The side from the North-east now sit on six points from two matches, and need only a draw against Uttar Pradesh in their last Group G match.

Arunachal Pradesh 3 (Hanu Tari 11’, 26’, 82’ p)
defeated
Uttar Pradesh 2 (Vihan Khanna 34’ p, Gaurav Chauhan 73’)

Arunachal Pradesh dented Uttar Pradesh's chances of progression to the quarter-finals, defeating the latter 3-2 in the second match of the day at the RKM Ashrama Ground 1 on Tuesday.

Hanu Tari scored two in the first half and conferred a late penalty in the second to complete his hat-trick. Vihan Khanna and Gaurav Chauhan scored one in each half for Uttar Pradesh.

Both Arunachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh are now on three points apiece, and will need a victory in their last group stage game on May 7 to stand a chance of making it to the knock-outs.
