A 2-0 victory against hosts Chhattisgarh gave Tamil Nadu the start they wanted, as they scored either side of the half-time whistle. Monisha was the star of the show for Tamil Nadu, scoring both the goals for her side.

Priyadharshini found Monisha with a beautifully threaded pass between the Chhattisgarh defensive lines, and the latter had just the goalkeeper to beat, which she did with relative ease.

It took Tamil Nadu some time to find the two-goal cushion after the break, but a corner on the hour mark changed that. Dhurga P floated it in at the far post, where Monisha managed to connect, producing a looping header that plopped in just underneath the cross-bar.

The second match of the day saw Goa and Bengal share the spoils after it ended in a stalemate post the final whistle. Although there were a fair number of chances at both ends, neither side managed to break the deadlock.
