NEW DELHI: The All India Football Federation (AIFF), in collaboration with the Indian Football Association – West Bengal (IFA), completed a pilot project to develop local Match Commissioners in a significant step towards strengthening football governance and operations at the state level. As part of the initiative, a three-day Match Commissioner Seminar was held in Kolkata from June 9 to 11, 2025.

The seminar was led by Mr. Binod K Singh (Jharkhand) as Chief Instructor, with Mr. Swagato Bhattacharya (West Bengal) as Assistant Instructor.

Over 26 participants from various regions across West Bengal joined the course, which was designed to build a new cadre of qualified officials.

The programme included intensive classroom sessions, practical learning, and concluded with written and practical assessments on the final day. The initiative aims to uplift match operations and officiating standards in state-level competitions, starting with IFA tournaments, and reflects the AIFF’s commitment to capacity building and professionalising the domestic football ecosystem.
