Home Youth Coaching
Coaching is a general term that involves mentoring, training and teaching footballers, professional or amateur, the various aspects of the game whilst developing their personal attributes. However when it comes to youth development, the term can no longer be loosely used and acquires more specificity as it involves mentoring, training and teaching young aspiring footballers from the ages of 5-6 years till they are ready to embrace professional football, in the fundamentals of the game whilst developing their personal attributes.
There is a big difference in Youth and Senior Level Coaching. Just like in academics where education is broken down in various levels and imparted accordingly enabling the steady growth of the student, in football too, the education imparted is broken down in various levels depending on the physical growth and ability of the player. Starting off with the bare basics, a coach’s method of education would involve judging the pupil’s ability and capacity to learn, his/her forte and the time he/she could devote in training. The various levels of Coaching would be as follows:
1. U-6 to U-10
Each level will have its own curriculum to follow that’d enable the positive development of the trainees in their attributes. Unlike in professional football where winning becomes the primary motive and aim of the team and the coach, Youth Coaching will focus on the growth and development of a players through various age levels that’d prepare him/her to be a professional footballer.
