The Indian Senior Women’s team, ranked 49th in the FIFA Rankings, the highest ever, have gone from strength to strength in the past few years.
Apart from bagging the SAFF Championship twice in a row, in the years 2010 and 2012, the Women in Blue have won the 11th South Asian Games 2009 held at Bangladesh.
India have always been the Queens of SAFF Championship beating opponents by huge margins en route the Finals on both the occasions. In the Final, India beat Nepal 1-0 in 2010 and 3-1 in 2012 respectively.
They also made the most of their International Exposure Tour in 2011 beating Bahrain twice in a three-match Series held at Bahrain.
The eves upended the same opponents two years later in the two build-up Friendlies ahead of their Asian Women’s Championship (Qualifiers) in May, 2013.
The Eves coached by former India International Anadi Barua impressed one and all when they beat a Dutch Club Team 1-0 in Navi Mumbai this January.
