When you start describing Sunil Chhetri, several things come to mind. However, we prefer to use just one word - Legend. Sunil Chhetri is unarguably the most decorated player in the modern history of Indian Football. Most appearances, most goals scored, most hearts won, and other numerous accolades have followed Sunil Chhetri in his footballing journey.

A young lad who scored against Pakistan in Quetta and showed the guts to celebrate in front of a hostile crowd in 2005, Sunil Chhetri had set the benchmark for what to expect from him in Indian colours. In his first senior tournament for India, Chhetri won the Nehru Cup in 2007, being an integral part of the team to defeat Syria in the final. He announced himself as the 'Poster Boy' of Indian Football, a billing which he has definitely lived up to.

In an exceptional career, he has won numerous accolades since then, both for club and country. On a personal level, Chhetri has won the AIFF Player of the Year 6 times, the Arjuna Award in 2011 and the Padma Shri in 2019 alongside numerous others honours.

As for the international honours, the Indian skipper has won the AFC Challenge Cup in 2008, SAFF Championship in 2011 and 2015, Nehru Cup in 2007, 2009 and 2012, the Intercontinental Cup in 2017 and 2018.
