The 27-year-old from Mohali, Punjab, is the first-choice goalkeeper for the Blue Tigers - having made his senior national debut in 2011 against Turkmenistan after representing India in the youth level. Gurpreet Singh Sandhu holds the distinction of being the only Indian to play in the UEFA Europa League - a feat he achieved while playing for Norwegian club Stabaek FC. He has also donned the captain's armband on a number of occasions for the Blue Tigers, including the memorable 0-0 draw away to Asian champions Qatar, where he produced a man-of-the-match performance. In 2019, he also received the Arjuna Award from the President of India, becoming the 26th footballer to do so.
