Bio

Fondly known as 'Apuia' across the entire nation, Lalengmawia Ralte is a central midfielder who made his debut for the Indian National Team in 2021 under coach Igor Stimac. The 5ft. 10in. midfielder is an energetic presser and ball-carrier, bringing in a youthful guile in the side.

Apuia started playing football from a very young age. After coming through the ranks in flying fashion, Apuia joined the AIFF Elite Academy in January 2016. Following his trials for the U-17 FIFA World Cup, he joined the Indian Arrows for the 2017-18 season. Hero ISL side NorthEast United saw the talent in the midfielder and signed him in 2019. In the 2020-21 season, Lalengmawia became the youngest captain in Hero ISL history as he captained NorthEast United FC.

The progress made by him in club competitions meant that the national call-up was a matter of when rather than if. Lalengmawia made his debut for the Blue Tigers on 25th March 2021 against Oman. Since then, his reputation has kept on growing. A move to Mumbai City FC in the Hero ISL has come as a result of his stupendous performances in 2021.
