NEW DELHI: Chennai City FC have not had a perfect season so far but football works in mysterious ways and a change in fortunes maybe just around the corner. Currently 8th on the table, team captain, Michael Soosairaj stated that ‘bad luck has plagued us but we are improving’ as a team.

“We have not been that lucky in the I-League so far with some late goals being conceded but this is how football is. Bad luck has plagued us but we are improving.”, stated the midfielder.

An upswing seemed to be on the anvil with the away win against Mohun Bagan but a couple of goalless draws and loss to Aizawl put paid to that hopes. Despite the string of results, the team has kept their chin up. “The mood inside the dressing room is positive. We have eight more games to go and are certain of finishing on a stronger note.”, revealed Soosairaj.

“We will be playing mostly at home and are looking forward to make that home advantage count.”

With 8 matches still to go for them in the I-League, Chennai City FC will be playing 7 of them at home, providing them a slight advantage in the home stretch of the season.

“The support has been terrific here in Coimbatore. Even though our name says Chennai, it doesn’t matter to the people here. They just want to see football and hopefully we will gift them some positive results to cheer about”, quipped the captain.

With the current scenario it will be difficult for Chennai to mount a title challenge and Soosairaj is abreast of the situation, “We know it will be quite a task to challenge for the title now, so our aim right now is to finish inside the Top 4. It will be a respectable and achievable target for us this season”, signed off the 23-year-old.
