NEW DELHI: The AIFF Match Commissioner Seminar 2017 kicks off with 23 candidates in Mumbai today (July 6, 2017).

Eventually, 50 candidates were selected from over 70 applications. The candidates are selected from various states like Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Goa, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Pondicherry, Kerala.

The three-day seminar is aimed to prepare the Match Commissioners for the competitions in the upcoming season and the seminar will cover a variety of topics such as administration, technical operations, Match Commissioners’ reporting and case studies and more.

Sunando Dhar, CEO, I-League & Henry Menezes, CEO, WIFA welcomed the participants at the seminar stating that the Match Commissioners would work together to make 2017 a successful year.

“The 2016 season has been a busy one but we have made good progress towards our long-term goals. Earlier the Match Commissioner's and the Referees Assessor's job was handled by a single person but now we are now looking at the new Match Commissioners as the tournaments and the youth leagues have risen and it won’t be possible for us to organise the matches without the Match Commissioners", Mr. Dhar addressed the budding Match Commissioners at the Cooperage Stadium.

"I wish all the best to the candidates and hope that the candidates get the best out of this workshop", he added.

The course will also delve into the usage of AIFF’s Competition Management System, an online tool for match day reportage.

Other candidates who have been selected from the North and Eastern part of the country will attend the seminar in Kolkata during July 12, 2017 to July 14, 2017.
