KOLKATA: Mohamed Umair scored the only goal of the game as Maziya Sports and Recreation put a huge dent in Mohun Bagan’s hopes of progressing to the next round of the 2017 AFC Cup on Wednesday (April 19, 2017).
Umair struck in the 34th minute to give his side all three points with a shot from just inside the penalty area before Maziya were forced to play out the final four minutes with 10 men following Milos Kovacevic’s late sending off.
Maziya move into second place in Group E with six points from three games, three ahead of Mohun Bagan and three adrift of last year’s finalists JSW Bengaluru, with only the group winners progressing to the next round of the competition.
