NEW DELHI: The three-day AIFF Advanced Grassroots Leaders Workshop, which kicked-off at the AIFF Headquarters in the Capital on June 29, 2016, concluded today (July 01, 2016).

27 members inclusive of Technical Officers from various States and Grassroots Leader participated in the Course, which was engineered to tutor the participants in talent identification at the Grassroots level whilst extending the horizons of Grassroots Football.

The Course was concluded with a Grassroots Training session wherein 15 kids participated in various Footballing activities giving the Grassroots Leaders a chance to test their theoretical knowledge on the field.

Speaking exclusively to www.the-aiff.com, AIFF’s Technical Director Scott O’Donell reflected on the Course and said that, “it has been a very productive three days”

“We obviously need to focus on continuing to expand our Grassroots programs across the country and at the same time identifying those talented young players and challenging them to give them every opportunity to reach their potential”

“The feedback and contributions from the participants was positive and obviously contributed to the success of the workshop”, O’Donell added.

“The course is a small step towards development of Indian Football. The realisation of our success in doing that relies heavily on the initiative and progressive work that takes place from here“, stated AIFF’s Head of Youth Development Richard Hood, who was the Instructor of the three-day Course.

“Richard (Hood) has done a lot of research on what we have been doing in terms of Grassroots football in India in comparison to what is happening elsewhere in the world and suggested some alternatives as to how we can train our talented young players at Grassroots level”, O’Donell informed.
