India to face Afghanistan in SAFF Suzuki Cup Finals

TRIVANDRUM: India will lock horns against Afghanistan in the Finals of the SAFF Suzuki Cup 2015 at the Trivandrum International Stadium on January 03, 2016. The kick-off for which is at 6:30 PM IST.

The ‘Men in Blue’ have been undefeated in their SAFF Campaign thus far and will look to clinch the title come Sunday (January 03, 2016) as they face 150th Ranked Afghanistan.

While India topped Group A and defeated Maldives 3-2 in the Semi-Finals; Afghanistan ran out eventual Group B winners and thumped Sri Lanka 5-0 in their Semi-final clash today (December 31, 2015).

The ‘Afghan Lions’ scored through Mohammad Hashemi in the dying embers of the first half to take a solitary lead going into half-time.

In the 51st minute, Afghanistan doubled their lead as Taher blasted his opportunity into the back of the net. Five minutes later, Amani scored from the penalty spot to give Afghanistan a 3-0 lead.

Shortly after, Hatifie headed the ball home to make it 4-0. In the 89th minute, Faysal slotted his opportunity into the back of the net to give Afghanistan an unassailable 5-0 lead. 

The full-time scoreline read 5-0 in Afghanistan's favor.
