NEW DELHI: The AIFF U-17 Colts ended their U-18 I-League campaign on a winning note as they hammered Salgaocar 7-2 on December 18, 2015 at the Nagoa Ground in Goa. With this win, the Indian Colts finished table toppers and qualified for the U-18 I-League Finals Phase as they accumulated 22 points throughout the Course of the U-18 I-League Campaign, and stayed undefeated - registering a staggering 7 wins and drawing only 1.

The flood gates opened as early as the 7th minute, when Deependra Negi headed home a peach of a cross by Raghav Gupta to hand the Indian Colts a solitary goal lead.

In the 28th minute, Anirudh Thapa continued his stellar goal scoring form from free-kick scenarios and scored from 25 yards to give the Indian Colts a 2-0 lead.

Right on the edge of half-time the Indian Colts were awarded a penalty kick as Bedashwor Singh was brought down inside the 18 yard box. Zonunmawia took the penalty kick and slotted it past the opponent’s custodian to make the half-time scoreline read 3-0.

It was goals galore in the Second half as both Teams scored a total of six goals in a matter of just 45 minutes.

However it was the Indian Colts who drew first blood in the second half as Biswa Kumar’s well-weighed through ball found Bedashwor Singh onto goal. The latter rounded the goalkeeper and scored to make it 4-0. Shortly after, Salgaocar pulled one back to make it 4-1.

Constant pressing from the top was bound to earn dividends sooner or later for the Indian Colts and in the 69th minute it did as Bodo robbed the opponent’s defence line of possession and crossed it in for Bedashwor Singh, who calmly slotted his second of the match to make the score-line 5-1.

Two goals in short intervals, courtesy of a Zonunmawia goal in the 71st and a Bodo tap-in in the 81st minute, put the match far from Salgaocar’s reach, who scored in the 82nd minute as the full-time scoreline read 7-2 in the Indian Colts favor.
