India U-19 Team to participate in FAM-FRENZ Asia Champions Trophy 2015

MELAKA (MALAYSIA): All India Football Federation’s Elite Academy, the U-19 Indian National Team will be one of the eight participating Teams in the FAM-FRENZ Asia Champions Trophy 2015, which is slated to kick-off from August 05, 2015.

 

India have been pitted in Group A alongside Frenz United A, Felda United FC (both from Malaysia) and Chonburi FC (Thailand); while Frenz United B (Malaysia), Phnom Phen Crown FC (Cambodia), Kashima Antlers (Japan) and PVF Vietnam (Vietnam) comprise Group B.  

 

Teams in the Group would play in a Group and Knock-out stage format wherein the top two finishing Teams from the Group Stage will progress into the Knock-out stage. Both stages including the Finals will be played on a home and away basis.

 

The Winners of the coveted Trophy will become richer by 50,000USD, while the Runners-up, third placed Team and the fourth placed Team will finish with USD 25,000, USD 12,500 and USD 7,500 respectively.

 

Besides, that there will also be award for Most Valuable Player and Golden Boot, both of which come with a purse of USD 2,500.

 

The Tournament was launched in a snazzy hotel in Melaka on Tuesday morning (July 14, 2015). The launch was preceded by a technical Workshop which was attended by members from the participating Teams.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Dato Noor Ihsan, President Frenz United FC expressed that the “Asia Champions Trophy is a perfect platform for exposure to International Football, as it provides opportunity to the youth to gain experience.”

 

“We are looking forward to this initiative and I want to thank all the participating Teams. Best of luck to all the participants,” he stated.

 

The AIFF colts will lock horns against Felda United FC in their first game, away from home. The Academy boys will play all their home matches under the floodlights of Fatorda Stadium, Goa.

August 19: Felda United FC v AIFF India

 

August 26: Chonburi FC v AIFF India

 

September 02: AIFF India v Felda United FC

 

September 23: AIFF India v Frenz United A

 

October 14: AIFF India v Chonburi FC

 

October 22: Frenz United A v AIFF India
