NEW DELHI:  The AIFF U-17 Academy hammered SESA FA U-18 8-0 in the GFA League on Friday (May 22, 2015) at the Sanquelim Ground in Goa.

On a sweltering Friday afternoon the Academy boys provided relief to the sore eyes of the spectators as they fused attacking fluidity with defensive solidity, which enabled them to hunt down their opposition.

Amit Tudu opened the floodgates for the Academy boys in the 15th minute when he tapped home from 6 yards, following a Anirudh Thapa corner.

With the Academy boys dictating the pace of the match and fostering constant attacks on the opposition citadel, dividends were meant to come. And they did seven minutes later, when Bodo slotted his opportunity way past a diving goal, to double the lead.

Taking the game by its scruff, the Academy boys scored once again in the 26th minute, when an uncanny clearance by SESA defence fell neatly for Yadav Rahul, who blasted it past the goalkeeper.

Yadav Rahul then doubled his goal scoring tally and added another to AIFF U-17 Academy’s, when an inch perfect cross by Bedeshwor was rocketed in the back of the net from 16 yards.

Albeit leading 4-0 at halftime the U-17 boys did not remove their foot from the throttle and instead continued with their attacking >

Three goals in less than 15 minutes of the second half more than asserted a win for the U-17 boys. As first, Edmund capitalized on a rebound and slotted home from close range. Next, the U-17 boys were awarded a penalty, which was placed well past the reach of the goalkeeper by Jerry. The third goal was the resultant of some uncanny defending, which was pounced upon by the Academy boys.

Edmund scored from a penalty kick in the 62nd minute, which was awarded to the Academy boys in lieu of a foul on Bedeshwor to extend SESA’s misfortune.

A sterling display of footballing skill and acumen saw the U-17 Academy boys blast eight past a hapless opponent at the end of full time.
