NEW DELHI: Two Goals in two minutes provided a perfect setting for the AIFF U-17 Academy Boys as they trounced SESA U-18 2-0 on Thursday (April 30,2015) at Trinity Ground Benaulim, Goa.

The AIFF U-17 Academy Boys showcased their intent to attack with fluidity throughout the Match, from the opening minutes of the fixture.

Bedashwor Singh’s effort from six yards came agonizingly close to open the Goal scoring charts for the Academy boys in the opening minutes of the match, following a corner scenario initiated by Anirudh Thapa.

With fluid attack and solid defence, the Academy boys took the Game by its scruff and fostered chances in plenty.

First, Prosenjit’s first time cross in was ricocheted off the opposing defender onto the cross bar; and the rebound was scooped inches wide of the goal by Edmund. Next, Deepandra Negi’s first time effort, following Surya’s pin-pointed cross, jolted the opposing defence as it struck the crossbar.

Constant attacks on the SESA U-18 citadel proved a hefty task to deal with. And gradually a quaggy SESA defence gave way to the first goal of the Game in the 30th minute. After an uncanny clearance by SESA defence, following a mesmerizing Bedashwor run, the ball fell for Surya Tirkey, who blasted his opportunity into the back of the net.

Two minutes later the Academy boys were at it again as Edmund’s cut back was met by the bombarding instep of Deependra Negi, enabling the Academy boys to take a comfortable 2-0 lead.

At half-time, courtesy of two quick fire goals, the Academy Boys led 2-0 against SESA U-18.

If the first half was a display of skill and acumen in the final third then the second half was most certainly a showcasing of solidity and confidence, flaunted by the Academy boys.

The Academy Boys pulled the strings of the match and dominated possession, whilst being defensively solid.

Bedashwor’s shot from six yards, which was saved acrobatically by the opposing Goalkeeper, following an exquisite Prosenjit through ball, once again rang bells of danger for SESA U-18 and exhibited the attacking effulgence of their opponents.

At full-time the Academy Boys registered an easy 2-0 win over SESA U-18. The AIFF U-17 Academy squares off against Sporting Goa U-18 next, on May 3, 2015.
