NEW DELHI: The AIFF U-17 Academy boys were held to a goalless draw by Churchill Brothers U-18, in U-18 GFA League on Friday (April 24, 2015) at Trinity Ground, Benaulim, Goa.

On a sweltering day in Goa, the Academy Boys showcased skill and acumen, but were unable to do justice to their glossy >

Bedashwor Singh was handed the first chance of the match, when a brilliant pass saw him onto goal. Unmarked inside the six yard box, Bedashwor shot straight at the opposing Goalkeeper.

The fleet-footed winger was at it again, when a precise curling cross by Prosenjit found him near Goal, which he headed inches over the cross-bar.

The Academy boys dominated possession, dictated play and fostered chance, against an opponent, who defended with ten men committed behind the ball.

Nevertheless, Surya’s rocket-of-a-shot from outside of the box tested the mettle of Churchill Brothers’ Goalkeeper as the opposing shotstopper denied a well struck attempt acrobatically.

A barren second half emulated a stagnant first half and at the end of time, the scoreline reflected 0-0.

The AIFF U-17 Academy takes on SESA U-18 Academy next, on April 30, 2015.
