Indian Women rout Sri Lanka, breeze into Final

NEW DELHI: Riding on a brace from Indumathi, Indian Women breezed into the Final of the Women’s SAFF Final when they blanked Sri Lanka 5-0 in the first semifinal in Islamabad on Wednesday (November 19). India led 2-0 at the interval.

In a one-sided contest, Indumathi opened the scoring for India in the 23rd minute only for Bala Devi to double the lead in the 31st minute. Bala with her strike took her tally of goals to 12, the highest in the Tournament so far.

Changing over, Parameshwori Devi scored the third almost immediately, in the 48th minute. Thereafter Indumathi scored her second of the match in the 69th minute to make it 4-0 for India.

Kamala Devi completed the rout scoring from the spot in the 72nd minute.

India will now meet Nepal in the final on November 21.
