AIFF Grassroots Course ends successfully in Assam

NEW DELHI: All India Football Federation’s first-ever Grassroots Course ended successfully in Guwahati, Assam on August 29, 2014. The three-day Course which was conducted by Ms. Anjana Turambekar, was attended by 32 Coaches.

AIFF Executive Committee Member Mr. Ankur Datta thanked AIFF for “allotting the Course to Assam.”

“I need to thank AIFF for giving this opportunity to Assam. The Course has enlightened our Coaches and our Endeavour for the growth and development in the State continues,” he said.

The Course concluded with a Football Festival which was attended by 60 Children.

The participants were awarded with the AIFF Grassroots Leaders Certificate at the completion of the Course (Closing ceremony). Representatives from Sports Authority of India, Guwahati were also present on the occasion.

Furthermore, the vision of the AIFF Grassroots Programme to educate more Coaches and in turn reach out to more number of kids in India was highlighted in a special presentation ‘Undertaking AIFF Grasssroots Programme in States.’

A total of 13 Grassroots Courses (including the one in Assam) have been conducted by AIFF so far. While three Courses have been conducted the AIFF-Football Federation of Australia partnership in Manipur, Mizoram and Maharashtra;  two have been conducted in Tamil Nadu and Western India Football Association each; while there have been one Course conducted each in Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Kerala and Chandigarh.

The Course had both its theory and practical sessions. Importance of small-sized games was stressed upon as was planning of GR Sessions along with various other inputs which were imparted to the Coaches.
