Churchill Brothers hitman puts pen to paper for Mariners

NEW DELHI: Kolkata heavyweights McDowell Mohun Bagan have secured the signature of India forward Balwant Singh for the 2014-15 football Season, the Club has informed through a statement.

The 27-year-old struck 17 goals last season including four in Churchill Brothers Federation Cup triumph last season.

Having switched allegiance from Salgaocar FC last season, Balwant scored 10 I-League goals and three during their AFC Cup campaign.

Balwant has also represented India in International matches making his debut for India B in 2010 against Kyrgyzstan and also for India U-23 National Team in the 2010 Asian Games netting a goal in the team’s 4-1 victory over Singapore U-23.

The Punjab lad made his Senior Team debut against Bangladesh in Goa earlier this year in March. India drew the match 2-2.
