AIZAWL: Shillong outfit Royal Wahingdoh FC will leave no stones unturned when they face Kolkata outfit Kalighat Milan Sangha in their penultimate game of the Second Division League 2013/14 Final Round at the Lammual Stadium in Aizawl on Wednesday (April 9, 2014).

While Wahingdoh are two points off table toppers Bhawanipore FC with 12 points from six matches, Kalighat are placed third with seven points to show for from six matches.

Wahingdoh’s priority is to become the third team from Shillong to participate in the I-League next season, along with Rangdajied United FC and Shillong Lajong FC. As for now, the team, led by Head Coach Nandakumar Singh, are taking their usual ‘one game at a time’ philosophy to reach the top.

“We need to be the team who qualifies to the I-League next season, and that is the only aim right now,” said an official from RWFC.

“Bhawanipore’s win yesterday [against Kalighat] ensured that only two remain in the fray to earn promotion, and we totally want to be that one team.

“There is no such strategy against Kalighat in our game tomorrow. All we want is a win. Throughout the competition we have taken one game at a time and with only victory in mind. We want to get a win against Kalighat tomorrow and again register a victory against Bhawanipore on the last day,” he added.

Kalighat are also looking at an all out win against Wahingdoh, and are not bothered about their exit from the tournament.

“Royal Wahingdoh are a good side, but we will play outright to win,” Club’s Technical Director, Arun Kumar Ghosh, said.

“Our starting XI is very balanced and we will field the same team we fielded against Bhawanipore and we are hopeful of a win.”

Liberian forward James Gbilee has made a massive impact for Kalighat as he is the current topscorer of the team with eight goals. His compatriot Bekay Bawar is also the topscorer for Wahingdoh with five goals.

Even Jackichand Singh has five goals for Wahingdoh, but the Club prefers to believe in the unified capability of the team, rather than singling out some players.

“We have fast skilled wingers and fullbacks, creative midfielders, no-nonsense defenders. It’s a balanced team,” the official said.
