Hindustan FC look to make it big on debut

NEW DELHI: Debutants Hindustan FC will have nothing to lose and would look to carry forward the Preliminary Round momentum when they take guard in the Final Round of the 2nd Division League.

The Delhi outfit led the preliminary round of the 2nd Division League 2013/14 from Group B with nine points from four games. They registered three wins and one loss so far.

One of the two Delhi outfits taking part in the 2nd Division League this season along with Garhwal FC, Hindustan are confident of performing better in the Final Round and are looking forward to becoming that one team who qualifies to the Airtel I-League next Season.

“We may not have any big names in the team, but the team is very motivated and spirited to perform better in the final round,” the Chief Coach of the Club, Abhijoy Basu said.

“We will try to make it huge by qualifying to the top tier of Indian Football Club competition next season.”

The Club have their practice sessions at the Thyagraj Sports Complex in Delhi, under Abhijoy, who is an AFC ‘A’ license Coach, and Technical Director Surinder Kumar, Mohammedan Sporting alumni.

Nigerian forward O.O. Sola is the topscorer for the Club in the tournament with four goals in the qualifying round, followed by Indian forward Khemson Kabui, who has two goals to his name.

Hindustan FC open their campaign in the Final Round of the 2nd Division League on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, against United Sikkim, at the Satindra Mohan Dev Stadium in Silchar.
