AIFF Inter-Academy Tournament kicks-off

KOLKATA: The inaugural edition of the All India Football Federation Inter-Academy Tournament kicked off at the Pailan World School, Kolkata. The Tournament features players in the U-15 and U-15 category who form part of the various AIFF Regional Academies across the country.

Besides FIFA Consultant Jean Michel Benitez, AIFF Technical Director Rob Baan, Scott O'Donell, Technical Director, Academies and AFC Elite Coaching Instructor, Vincent Subramaniam were present on the occasion. India U-22 Head Coach Arthur Papas, also the Coach of AIFF Developmental Team, Pailan Arrows and AFC Director, Coach Education, Jim Selby were also present.

On the opening day, both the Mumbai teams recorded victories in the opening round fixtures against their Kolkata counterparts. Striker Stany Braganca chipped in with a brace in Mumbai-One's comfortable 4-0 victory over Kolkata-One in the tournament opener. In the second match, a Suman Sarkar strike in the closing stages enabled Mumbai-Two to edge past Kolkata-Two.
