India’s U-13 girls emerged Champions in the U-13 Girls Football Tournament when they routed Bhutan 13-0 at the Police Ground in Bambalapitiya, Colombo.

Earlier, the girls had beaten strong contenders Iran 1-0. After a barren first-half, Daya Devi scored the winner in the 27th minute.

In an earlier match, the Indian girls blanked Sri Lanka 7-0. The match was played in two halves of 25 minutes each. Captain Kashmina scored a hat-trick while Daya Devi, Lifa Gama, Suman and Soni Kumari scored one apiece. This is India’s third successive victory in the tournament after having beaten Jordan 7-1 and Palestine 9-0 in their earlier two matches.

Head Coach Priya complimented the girls for their performance. “They have been consistent and disciplined at the same time,” she maintained.
