U-13 girls off to a winning start

India’s U-13 girls were off to a convincing start in the U-13 Girls Football Tournament being played at the played Police Ground, Bambalapitiya in Colombo.  The Indian girls showed great character and grit as they breezed past Palestine 9-0 in their opening encounter.

The duration of the match stayed 50 minutes with both halves staying 25 minutes each. India scored five goals in the first half and four in the second. Daya Devi scored four goals while Roja Devi scored a brace. Kashmina, the Captain of the side, Suman and Manisha scored one apiece.

Chief Coach Priya lauded the girls for their cohesive effort. “The intention stays to get them love the sport at this age. I’m pleased with their attitude,” she said.
