The concept of Junior football development is changing. Academic research has indicated that over-competitive focus leads to pressure and increased drop out from the game. The win-at-all-costs culture at the junior level has been stifling development, learning and enjoyment. Therefore it becomes important to plan curriculums in such a way that it suits the players for each age category. Junior football development cannot happen consistently under one particular process over the years, which is why the development has to be broken up into various age-phases. Each age phase will have a particular training curriculum based on which the development will occur.
